Exhibit Design Intern

May 2018- August 2018
I developed a physical collection of artifacts and papers pertaining to the history of the school mascot Herky the Hawk, including Dick Spencer III’s original illustrations of the mascot. I researched and surveyed pertinent holdings, selected content, created text, designed, and installed the exhibit at the University of Iowa Main Library. I wrote blog posts for the Special Collections blog and was interviewed by local press about the exhibit. I also introduced the “Hatching Herky” exhibit and conducted tours at the opening event, in which attendees included donors, the president of University of Iowa, and the general public. My exhibit was converted into a traveling exhibit, touring the United States for 2 years, appearing at various Hawkeye events.
